Steeplechase Demographics
A market research study conducted in 2000 for the National Steeplechase
Association (NSA) by the Center for Spectator Sport Research at the
University of Massachusetts, Amherst, questioned more than 20,000
steeplechase fans. The research documented attendance patterns, perceptions
and demographics of steeplechase fans. Among the results: 79.9 percent of
fans have college, graduate or professional degrees and 62.7 percent have
incomes in excess of $100,000 per year.
The Atlanta Steeplechase mailing list reveals that 40% of attendees live in
the City of Atlanta, while 76% including City residents live in the Metro
Atlanta Area. Remaining attendance comes from northern Georgia and bordering
states.
A new study will be conducted this year by the Atlanta Steeplechase to
update its demographics. Approximately 20,000 Metro Atlanta, Georgia and
out-of-state fans will be asked to assist us with similar and more detailed
questions.
